Sneha* lost both her parents at a young age. Having to look after her younger siblings, she had to find ways to earn money to put food on the table. This left her susceptible to the many sex trade recruiters in her area who often pushed women into the sex trade promising them good job with high salaries. During a local awareness program in her community, a John Foundation worker was introduced to her and encouraged her to join the John Foundation Employable Skill Training Institute. Although initially fearful, she eventually joined and completed her Computer Basic, DTP and Office Management Courses. After finishing her course, she went back to her sister’s place and started looking for jobs. Within a month from her graduation, she was offered a Job at HSBC Bank in Hyderabad as a Cashier cum Data entry operator with starting salary of Rs 10,000 per month. She is very happy and remains grateful to John Foundation for giving her such good training that today enables her earn her living and sustain herself. Today she doesn’t need to depend on anybody for help and this gives her a sense of dignity.
