PROGRAM FOR ADULTS

John Foundation believes that equipping single mothers, vulnerable girls and women from low-income communities with “employable skills” that lead to employment and eventual self-sustenance, is the best way to tackle the false promises of human traffickers.

EMPLOYABLE SKILLS TRAINING CENTRE

The John Foundation Employable skills training centre is one of the many projects that was begun with the goal of equipping women at risk of human trafficking with skills that could lead them to employment and eventual economic self-sustenance. Over the last 12 years, women from various at-risk backgrounds including - girls rescued from trafficking, girls rescued from temple prostitution, women affected by HIV/AIDS, single mothers, widows and women from poor low-income families – have undergone a wide range of skill development courses. These include courses in basic computers, desk top publishing, beautician, spoken English, tailoring and maggam work. Since 2008, close to 6200 women have gone through courses at the EST centre with another 1200 expected to graduate courses in 2020. Our courses have also been recognized by the Government of Telangana giving our graduating students an edge when they look for jobs. Close to 89% of students going through our courses have found jobs after graduation. Our students have also performed exceedingly well at their Government exams with close to 90% of them receiving a distinction upon graduation.

Men’s Employable Skill Training Centre

The Men’s Employable Skill Training centre was set up with the intention of providing good quality skill training for school dropout boys and young men.

Focused on practical training coupled with actual on-job training, the boys spend upto 70% of class hours working on actual projects under the supervision of their tutors. The three courses – Electrical and Electronics, Welding and plumbing have had huge success so far with a majority of the men receiving jobs immediately after graduation.
